More than sixty visitors came through the gates on Sunday 15 June, making this year's Open Day the biggest in the club's history. Taster sessions ran from 2pm until 5pm across all four courts, with members on hand to mix in with newcomers of every age and ability.
Rackets were available to borrow, and the pavilion was open throughout with tea and cake provided by the social committee. Several complete beginners played their first ever points, and a number of families stayed well past the official end time.
Six families have already enquired about membership following the day, and the committee expects more to come through over the next fortnight. Anyone still considering joining is welcome to attend a Saturday club session as a visitor — up to three visits at £3 each — before committing.
A particular highlight was the junior rally competition, won by eleven-year-old Freya Dennis, who beat a field of twenty in a tiebreak final. Thanks go to everyone who helped organise and run the day.
