Following a proposal put to the AGM in April, the committee has formally approved the replacement of all floodlighting on the four courts at the recreation ground. The new LED system will be installed during the third week of August, ahead of the autumn season.

The existing fittings are over fifteen years old and increasingly unreliable. Two units on Court 3 failed twice last winter, forcing cancellation of Tuesday evening sessions. The new system is rated for significantly lower energy consumption and carries a ten-year manufacturer warranty.

Work is expected to take three to four days, during which all four courts will be out of use. The committee will confirm the exact dates in July once the contractor's schedule is confirmed, and will notify members by email in advance.

The upgrade was funded from the club's reserves, with no increase to membership fees required. The committee thanks members for their patience with the lighting issues this past season and looks forward to offering more reliable evening play from September onwards.
